This is Ms Coney. Ms. Coney is a passionate and supportive first-grade teacher who wants every student to feel confident, valued, and encouraged in the classroom. She enjoys helping students discover their strengths, develop new skills, and build a love of learning. She describes herself as a proud mom, enjoys reading books, and has traveled to many states. She is excited to make the school year fun, inspiring, and full of new discoveries for her students.

This is Ms. Angelique Ambers she is the 3rd grade teacher at Lorenzo Smith Elementary. She is a proud mother of two children: her 12-year-old son, Arman, and her 5-year-old daughter, Amelia. She is passionate about education and teaching because she understands the power education has to change lives. She strives to create a classroom where every student feels welcomed, supported, and motivated to reach their full potential. Angelique is currently pursuing a Master of Arts in English at Governors State University and is committed to continuing to grow as an educator. Outside of the classroom, she enjoys traveling, writing, learning about history, cooking, and spending time with family and friends.

One of her core beliefs as an educator is: “Learning happens best when students feel valued, encouraged, and confident enough to try.”

🏟️ This past Thursday Our Students and Staff had a day at the ballpark! Our students had a blast exploring historic Wrigley Field! ⚾

Welcome Back Mustangs!! The first day of school for students will be on August 14, 2026. We can't to see you all!

Openings are currently available, but you must complete a screening and application to secure your child's spot.

Please join us for our upcoming screening event on July 22nd from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Before scheduling your screening, please fill out the application online. You can find the application and the scheduling QR code on our Pembroke Community Consolidated School District 259 website.

This is an important message from Pembroke School District #259.

Due to significant storm damage and the ongoing loss of electricity affecting parts of our community, Pembroke School District #259 will remain closed for the remainder of this week to ensure the safety of our students, staff, and families.

At this time, we anticipate reopening on Monday, provided that power is restored and our buildings can be fully inspected to ensure safe conditions. We appreciate your patience and understanding as we work with local officials and utility providers during the recovery process. Please continue to monitor district communications for updates.

Due to the aftermath of the storm impacting Kankakee County and out an abundance of caution for the safety of our students, staff, and families, school will be closed tomorrow. School will reopen on Thursday, March 12. Please continue to monitor district communications for any additional updates. Thank you for your patience and cooperation, and please stay safe.

Due to the potential storm, the School Board meeting for tonight has been cancelled until further notice.

Attention Mustang Family! Due to extreme weather conditions there will be no school on Monday, January 26, 2026. All classes and activities are canceled for the day. Students have been provided with hard copy assignments for E-Learning instruction. This is the emergency packet provided to you at the beginning of winter. Please stay safe and warm and check the districts website and social media for further updates.
