Due to significant storm damage and the ongoing loss of electricity affecting parts of our community, Pembroke School District #259 will remain closed for the remainder of this week to ensure the safety of our students, staff, and families.
At this time, we anticipate reopening on Monday, provided that power is restored and our buildings can be fully inspected to ensure safe conditions. We appreciate your patience and understanding as we work with local officials and utility providers during the recovery process. Please continue to monitor district communications for updates.

Due to the aftermath of the storm impacting Kankakee County and out an abundance of caution for the safety of our students, staff, and families, school will be closed tomorrow. School will reopen on Thursday, March 12. Please continue to monitor district communications for any additional updates. Thank you for your patience and cooperation, and please stay safe.
Due to the potential storm, the School Board meeting for tonight has been cancelled until further notice.

Counties, Illinois for 2025 will be held on

Pembroke Township, IL 60958 at 6:00:00 PM.
Any person desiring to appear at the public
hearing and present testimony to the taxing

II. The corporate and special purpose property
taxes extended or abated for 2024 were
$528,478.
The proposed corporate and special purposed
property taxes to be levied for 2025 are
$601,500. This represents a 13.82% increase
over the previous year.
III. The property taxes extended for debt services
and public building commission leases for
2024 were $144,954.
The estimated property taxes to be levied for
debt service and public building commission
leases for 2025 are $76,900.
IV. The total property taxes extended or abated
for 2024 were $673,432.
The estimated total property taxes to be
levied for 2025 are $678,400. This represents
a 0.74% increase over the previous year.

The students at Lorenzo R. Smith Elementary School had an amazing time on their Mighty Acorns Field Trip!
They explored nature, learned about local ecosystems, and enjoyed hands-on outdoor activities that connected classroom learning with real-world experiences.
It was a great day filled with curiosity, teamwork, and smiles all around!

We are excited to announce that the S.A.F.E. Center will soon be opening "The Sharing Space", a Food Pantry and Clothing Closet right here at our school.
What you'll find:
A variety of food items for families in need
Gently used clothing and items for children and adults
Who can use it?
The pantry and closet will be open to the public - families, neighbors, and community members are all welcome.
When and Where:
The pantry and clothing closet will be located inside of the S.A.F.E. Center. Opening dates and times will be posted soon.
This new resource is made possible through the support of our school and community. Together, we can help meet the needs of our families.
